I'm super excited about the upcoming IN ACFW State Chapter Meeting!
The Indiana chapter of ACFW invites you to join us at our next meeting on Saturday April 18th in Highland, IN (east of Chicago).
The speaker for this meeting will be Mavis Sanders from Tyndale House Publishing. Mavis is a corporate publicist for Tyndale. The topic for the meeting will center on publicity but will also include some marketing info courtesy of Tyndale’s marketing managers. Some of the components of the presentation will include:
1) How fiction publicity/marketing has changed since Mavis began her publishing career over 30 years ago, and why publicity is integral to the promotion of a book
2) Uniqueness of Tyndale House Publishers (not every publisher is set up the same way), and their philosophy for marketing and publicity (including some fiction that has done well for them)
3) How they acquire authors (Why it is important for an author to work with a literary agent that not only represents the author well, but also one who knows the industry, trends, and distinctions of publishers)
4) Why an author needs to assume “ownership” for marketing/publicizing her novel
5) How an author can be his “own best publicist” (networking, blogging, community activity, relationship with local bookstore/library, etc.)
The meeting will be held at The Purple Steer Restaurant located at 8601 Indianapolis Blvd., Highland IN (few blocks South, off I-94 and Indianapolis Blvd. exit) from 12-2pm EST. A Book signing will be held following the meeting from 3-5pm EST at Kolas Christian Bookstore at 2635 Highway Ave., Highland, IN (few blocks East of The Purple Steer Restaurant). The cost of the meeting is $5.00 for Indiana chapter members and $10.00 for non-members. Attendees can purchase lunch at the restaurant.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
