Time Management

How many hours a week are you working?

I have found myself often working 60 or 70 hours a week. It's especially easy now in the information age. With a laptop and cell phone, I can easily find myself working from home at all hours of the day or night.

Unfortunately, my family members are ususally the ones who pay the cost. I have told myself that since I'm in the same physical location, it is fine. I'm here if they need me. The problem is that even if I am working from home and in the same room, I am distracted. While working, I am not mentally engaged with my family. My time with my family members becomes just that, empty time.

I also find that all that time I do spend working becomes less productive. I become less creative.
Solomon warns us:
Don't wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. Proverbs 23:4 (NLT)

Lord, help me each day to be wise enough to put away my work and know when to quit.

  2. All right, Lisa. 'Fess up. I noticed the time posting on this is 3:41 am... So is blogging work or fun? And what are you doing awake at 3:41 am?

Good warning about the "empty time" that can fill up the family if we are not paying attention.
